Guest post: Bethany Elyse Hair & Makeup

Hello, I’m Bethany! I’m a licensed session hairstylist and makeup artist based out of Austin, Texas.

I grew up in central Austin, spread my wings for a while, and landed back here a little over a year ago. I currently reside in the Hyde Park area and have chosen Clarksville as my salon location.

Old Austin reminds me of childhood and the energy in these two areas is a driving force for my creativity and well-being! I can’t imagine a more well-rounded city to thrive in.

It’s true – there are a ton of reasons to love this great city! Here are my top ten:

1. The Greenbelt. Where else can you find miles of natural springs and scenic routes? St. Edward’s Park and Hill of Life are also great hiking spots.

2. JuiceLand. Austin born and raised – I highly recommend the Honey Beary smoothie.

3. Live Music. Life looks a little different these days, but let’s not forget about the venues! Mohawk on Red River, Continental Club or White Horse – we love them all!

4. Tex-Mex. Go to El Naranjo for margaritas, La Fonda for an old Austin classic, and if you’re looking for something on-the-go, Cabo Bob’s has the best burritos in town!

5. Austin Pets Alive. Living in a town full of dog lovers makes my heart smile. Make sure to check out their thrift store on Burnet!

6. Downtown. Whether you’re paddle boarding on Ladybird Lake, running the trail, or tossing a frisbee at Zilker, it’s super easy to be outdoorsy here.

7. Wander. Located in Clarksville, stop in for an amazing haircut with yours truly and shop our variety of local art! Great tunes and Topo Chico included. El Arroyo is right next door and is famous for their clever signs: try their queso and a bowl of tortilla soup after your cut.

8. Pizza & Beer. Stop by Pint House for some margherita pizza and an Electric Jellyfish aka the best IPA in town- yes, please!

9. Pace Bend Park. Just 20 miles to this little slice of heaven, it’s perfect for a weekend camping trip.

10. The People. Austin is such a well-rounded city – I have never lived around a more friendly and welcoming community. There’s truly something for everyone!
