April is C-section awareness month, so I thought I would share my story as I have in the past.
Asher’s c-section healed me in ways a vaginal birth never could.
13 months prior to giving birth to my son via c-section I was laying in the same hospital on an operating table about to have emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy that had ruptured and caused internal bleeding.
Coming out of it I was told I lost a fallopian tube but otherwise it went as well as we could have hoped.
Six months later I found I was pregnant again. I was so nervous to get excited. What if it was another ectopic? Thankfully it wasn't and I went on to have a blessedly uneventful pregnancy from then until about 36 weeks when I found out my son was frank breech. I had been prepping for a natural birth so I was pretty upset. I tried everything I could for weeks to turn him with no luck. At 40 weeks 2 days I walked into that cold sterile OR bolstered only by the thought of meeting my son. I had had a conversation with my OB right before, I asked that she cut through my scar from the ectopic surgery. I didn't want to have both scars. The c-section went smoothly and as she was sewing me up she told me,

I had had a conversation with my OB right before, I asked that she cut through my scar from the ectopic surgery. I didn't want to have both scars. The c-section went smoothly and as she was sewing me up she told me, "I didn't just cut through it, I cut it out entirely. You don't need that reminder." I could have kissed her in that moment. I would no longer physically be reminded of the child I lost and the pain every time I looked in the mirror. Instead I would see the scar that brought my beautiful boy earth side. Asher was and is my rainbow baby. A beautiful gift after a storm. C-sections aren't easy physically or emotionally but in my case it was a means of healing me emotionally and physically in a way a vaginal birth never could have .

🌸🍋🛁 long post ahead:

So, here’s something I’ve wanted to talk about for a while. Styling for the gram. ✌🏼I once had someone comment on a bath photo of mine saying “you do not take baths like this, this just proves you live for the internet.” & I can see where she’s coming from. No I don’t just have a lemon chillin with me in the bath. No I don’t put fake flowers in the water. Sometimes I do take pink baths cuz ya know, bath bombs. BUT - photography, styling, & creating beautiful photos is my PASSION! I seriously love the whole process. It allows me to get creative. I’m not just doing it all for Instagram. It’s for me too!! It’s what I LOVE doing, & I love sharing it with you guys! Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing real life photos too! It’s important that we share that raw side with each other as well. I’ll tell you right now, most of my baths are just Epsom salts & a good book. But sometimes I just like to be extra af & make a pretty pink bath scene. ✨💕 that is all. Sorry for the long rant, & thanks for listening if you made it this far 🤟🏼😚 love you guys!!
